A Supper Deal

Finally we are out. These were the words used by my colleague on our way to Lemon Tree Premier, a hotel located in the heart of the city. We planned a dinner buffet for the ten of us tonight. The buffet consisted of unlimited 5 course meal with unlimited mock tails at a reasonable price of 499/- and that included taxes. In my previous blog "tax fury", I had explained the impact of indirect taxes on us which are almost 25-30% of the bill especially in a big hotel or restaurant. However this deal from groupon, suggested to me by Lemon tree staff was excellent as far as value for money is concerned.

Lemon tree is one of the most famous and sought after medium budget hotels. It is not a Taj or a Marriott, but it has it's own charm. The ambience and the interior was superior than many others. Also the food quality except a miss here and there was appreciable. We had a long list of items displayed for us which included mock tail (chefs special ), the starters malai tikka and veg kabab were finger licking , a wide range of salads, curd, curd rice, fryums, papads, chicken salad, pasta, variety of fruits, soups and main course which included dal, paneer, chicken, bhindi, awesome mutton gravy and variety of rice and breads to choose from. Then came the dessert for which I had no place in my stomach. It included ice cream with chocolate sauce and a sweet. The service was a bit slow in the beginning, but gradually they picked up pace and took care of everything by providing us with fresh plates, forks, spoons etc without being asked for. There was one or the other staff member always at our disposal. The entire staff was thorough professional and courteous. Even the chef came out to ask for a feedback. To add, the washrooms were crystal clear and hygienic. For me it was a nice experience for a change.

Deals are a great way to try something new without spending too much. This deal was worth 2294/- MRP and for many of us it may not be a perfect dine-out however if compared to the cost, the quality, the quantity and the mood it was a total satisfaction.
